CCSVI diagnosis

Description of the service

In patients with CCSVI (chronic cerebro-spinal venous insufficiency) can be carried out the procedure based on extending the vessel (the right jugular vein, left or mediastinal veins), which facilitates the venous outflow from the central nervous system. Research in recent years suggests that the narrowing or constriction of the jugular vein odd hinder blood outflow from the central nervous system and thereby increase the neurological symptoms observed in patients with multiple sclerosis. Qualified for that treatment are MS patients who show symptoms of abnormal venous outflow from the brain and spinal cord. For this purpose, tests are performed evaluating the patency of the jugular veins and vertebral veins odd. In case of stenosis or occlusion of the vessels can begin the CCSVI treatment. Eligibility for treatment is based on the results of Doppler ultrasound and consultation with a specialist in vascular surgery and angiology.
